2015 Brandon Scott Mullins Scholarship Recipients
The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools is proud to partner with Cathy and Tommy Mullins to present the 2015 Brandon Scott Mullins Scholarship. Each year, the Mullins family presents $500 to two deserving students from Apollo High School in memory of their son, Brandon.
2015 recipients are Andrew Lee and Jose Marco Hernandez. After a stint with the Coast Guard, Andrew plans to attend Western Kentucky University . Jose will attend the University of Kentucky.
2014 Brandon Scott Mullins Memorial Scholarship
Cathy and Tommy Mullins in partnership with the Foundation for DCPS presented two $500 Brandon Scott Mullins Memorial Scholarships at Apollo Awards Night on April 29.
2014 Mullins Scholarship recipients are Renee Strohmyer and Ryan Offerman.
Mullins Scholarship recipients must demonstrate ability to overcome adversity.
2013 Brandon Scott Mullins Scholarship
Congratulations to 2013 Brandon Scott Mullins Scholarship recipients: Austyn Coy and Lindsey Young!
Austyn and Lindsey each received a $500 scholarship from the Mullins family in partnership with the Foundation for DCPS.
Austyn and Lindsey will attend Western Kentucky University in the Fall of 2013 where they will be roommates.

2012 Brandon Scott Mullins Scholarship
Congratulations to the 2012 recipients of the Brandon Scott Mullins Scholarship: Taylor Daughtery and Alex Stratton!
Taylor is a senior planning to attend OCTC in the fall. Alex is also a senior and plans to attend Murray State University. Taylor and Alex will receive $500 each to help defray college expenses.
Cathy and Tommy Mullins, Brandon's parents, have donated $1,000 to the Foundation to provide two $500 scholarships in memory of Brandon. These two scholarships will be awarded to Apollo High School students who display qualities of perseverance and leadership while overcoming significant obstacles in life as he/she pursues successful educational and/or career goals.
Specialist Brandon Scott Mullins, 2008 Apollo graduate, enlisted in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. While serving Operation Enduring Freedom, Brandon was killed on August 25, 2011, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. For his heroic service, Specialist Mullins received several awards, medals, and decorations including the Bronze Star, the military's third highest award, the Purple Heart, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, The Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Brandon was active in Daviess County youth sports including soccer, baseball, basketball, and football; however, Brandon found his niche in high school playing for the Owensboro Hockey League serving as Captain of his team and earning the league's MVP award.
Students interested in applying for the Mullins Scholarship should contact the AHS Guidance Office. Scholarship application opens in the spring and the scholarships will be awarded at the Apollo Awards Night.
